This Privacy Policy explains how DevJet Software (“DevJet”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information related to DocInsight, formerly known as Documentation Insight, the DocInsight website, downloads, licensing, updates, purchases, analytics, and support.
DevJet Software is a business name used by an independent software developer and vendor. Unless an order, invoice, written agreement, or updated legal notice identifies a separate or successor legal entity, references to “DevJet Software”, “DevJet”, “we”, “us”, or “our” mean the individual operator using that business name. For purposes of applicable privacy and data protection laws, DevJet Software is the controller, business, or personal information handler for information that DevJet Software collects and determines how to process. Third-party providers such as FastSpring, Cloudflare, email providers, support tools, and infrastructure providers may act as independent controllers, processors, entrusted processors, service providers, or similar roles depending on the context and their own terms.
DocInsight is designed as a local-first documentation tool. In normal local use, DocInsight builds documentation on your machine and does not upload your source code, documentation files, generated output, repository contents, or project content to DevJet Software.
Information we collect
We may collect the following types of information when you interact with DocInsight or DevJet Software:

We do not intentionally collect your project source code, private documentation content, generated documentation output, repository contents, or local file paths except where you choose to include them in a support request, diagnostic report, issue, email, or other communication with us.
Local-first product behavior
DocInsight is not a hosted documentation service. Local builds, checks, previews, generated files, and project content are intended to remain on your machine or in infrastructure you control.
The DocInsight application and command-line tools may connect to DevJet Software services or related infrastructure to activate or refresh a license, validate license status, check subscription status, check for updates, download release metadata, download managed toolchain components, or access similar product infrastructure.
These requests may include technical metadata needed to provide those services, such as product version, update channel, operating system, architecture, license identifier, requested package, timestamp, and network metadata.
These update and licensing requests are not designed to upload or store your source code, documentation files, generated documentation output, repository contents, or project content with DevJet Software.
If you configure DocInsight with third-party services, CI systems, AI tools, hosting providers, source control platforms, publication workflows, or external storage, those services may process your content according to their own terms and privacy policies.
Website analytics and cookies
The DocInsight website may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate website traffic, page views, referring sites, and website performance. We use this information to maintain and improve the website, documentation, downloads, product information, and marketing pages.
Cloudflare describes Web Analytics as privacy-first analytics that does not collect or use visitors’ personal data and does not use client-side state such as cookies or local storage for analytics.
Cloudflare or other infrastructure providers may still process limited network, security, and operational information needed to deliver and protect the website. FastSpring and other third-party services may use their own cookies or similar technologies on pages they operate, subject to their own policies.

Purchases through FastSpring
DocInsight purchases, renewals, taxes, invoices, payment processing, subscriptions, chargebacks, refunds, and certain billing workflows may be handled by FastSpring.
When you purchase DocInsight, you may interact with FastSpring’s store, checkout, emails, buyer support, subscription management, or charge lookup tools. FastSpring’s own terms and privacy policies apply to the payment transaction and to the information FastSpring collects or processes.
FastSpring may provide us with information needed to fulfill your order, issue or validate a license, provide support, manage renewals, prevent fraud, and maintain business records. This may include your name, email address, order ID, product purchased, license status, renewal status, country or region, tax or VAT status, and similar transaction information.

Logs, diagnostics, and support materials
DocInsight may create local log files and diagnostic output on your machine. In normal logging modes, these logs are intended to contain operational and diagnostic information.
If you enable debug, verbose, trace, diagnostic, or similar logging, local log files may include more detailed information, such as local file paths, project configuration, command-line arguments, environment details, diagnostic context, symbol names, build input, excerpts of source code, excerpts of documentation files, or generated output snippets.
DevJet Software does not receive local logs unless you choose to send them to us, attach them to a support request, upload them to an issue tracker, share them by email, or otherwise disclose them.
Before sending logs, diagnostics, screenshots, sample projects, or reproduction files to us or posting them publicly, review them carefully and remove license keys, passwords, access tokens, personal information, confidential source code, private documentation, proprietary project details, and other sensitive information.
We will treat non-public support materials that you provide through private support channels as confidential and use them only for support, troubleshooting, security, product improvement, and related purposes described in this Privacy Policy or agreed with you. Access is limited to people and service providers who need access for those purposes.
You are responsible for managing local log files created on your machine. You should delete debug, verbose, trace, or diagnostic logs when they are no longer needed, especially if they were generated while working with confidential projects.
Public issue tracker
If you submit an issue, discussion, or comment in a public issue tracker, the content you post may be public. Do not include license keys, passwords, private source code, confidential project files, personal information, or other sensitive information in public issues.
We may ask you to provide logs, diagnostics, screenshots, project configuration, or sample files to reproduce a problem. You should remove confidential information before sending those materials unless we explicitly agree on a private support channel.
How we use information
We use information to:
- provide, activate, license, update, and support DocInsight;
- process purchases, renewals, refunds, invoices, and tax-related records through FastSpring;
- operate the DocInsight website, downloads, documentation, analytics, licensing, and update services;
- respond to support requests, bug reports, feedback, and account or license questions;
- improve DocInsight, documentation, product quality, reliability, usability, and security;
- communicate about product updates, security notices, license status, renewals, and support matters;
- prevent fraud, abuse, unauthorized use, and security incidents;
- comply with legal, accounting, tax, and contractual obligations.
Legal bases where required
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing personal information, we rely on the basis available under the applicable law.
For personal information processing subject to the Personal Information Protection Law of the People’s Republic of China, this may include consent, necessity for concluding or performing a contract with you, necessity for complying with legal duties or obligations, necessity for responding to public health emergencies or protecting life, health, or property safety in emergencies, reasonable processing of personal information that you have disclosed or that has otherwise been legally disclosed within a reasonable scope, and other bases permitted by applicable laws and administrative regulations.
For processing subject to the GDPR, UK GDPR, or similar laws, this may include performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, legitimate interests, consent, or other lawful bases.
Sharing information
We may share information with:
- FastSpring, for checkout, payment processing, taxes, invoicing, subscription management, chargebacks, refunds, fraud prevention, and order fulfillment.
- Cloudflare, for website hosting, delivery, security, performance measurement, and privacy-first web analytics.
- Service providers, such as hosting, email, support, licensing, update, security, storage, and infrastructure providers.
- Professional advisers, such as accountants, legal advisers, and tax advisers where necessary.
- Authorities or other parties, where required by law, legal process, fraud prevention, security, or protection of rights.
- A successor operator or legal entity, if DevJet Software incorporates, reorganizes, changes its operating structure, registers or transfers the DocInsight business to a legal entity, or transfers substantially all assets related to DocInsight, subject to applicable notice and legal requirements.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use Customer Code, private documentation content, generated documentation output, repository contents, or local project content for advertising.
International processing and cross-border transfers
We and our service providers may process information in countries or regions other than your country or region of residence, including Mainland China, Hong Kong, the United States, the European Union, or other locations where we or our service providers operate. Those countries or regions may have data protection laws that differ from the laws where you live.
For example, FastSpring, Cloudflare, email providers, support providers, licensing infrastructure, update infrastructure, and security providers may process information outside your country or region.
Where required by applicable law, including where applicable for users in Mainland China, we will provide required notices and obtain separate consent or complete other required transfer mechanisms before providing personal information to recipients outside the relevant jurisdiction. Such notices may include the overseas recipient’s name or contact information, processing purpose and method, categories of personal information, and how individuals may exercise rights with the overseas recipient.
Retention
We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, including product support, license management, analytics, business records, legal obligations, accounting, tax compliance, security, dispute resolution, and fraud prevention.
Some records, such as purchase, invoice, tax, license, analytics, security, and support records, may need to be retained for longer periods. We may retain order, license, and tax-related records for the period required or permitted by applicable accounting, tax, legal, and dispute-resolution requirements.
Local log files created by DocInsight on your machine are under your control. We do not retain those files unless you choose to send them to us.
Sensitive personal information
Do not send us sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request. Sensitive personal information may include government identification numbers, financial account information, precise location data, health information, biometric information, private credentials, or similar information under applicable law.
If you send sensitive personal information, you are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to do so and, where required, have obtained separate consent or other authorization. We may delete, reject, or redact support materials that contain unnecessary sensitive personal information or confidential materials.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of certain personal information. You may also have rights to withdraw consent, request an explanation of processing rules, or lodge a complaint with a relevant authority.
You may contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or other privacy-related assistance. We may need to verify your identity before responding. Some requests may be limited by legal, accounting, tax, security, fraud prevention, support, or license-record obligations.
If we refuse a request, we will explain the reason unless prohibited by law. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
For payment transaction data handled by FastSpring, you may also need to contact FastSpring directly through FastSpring’s buyer support or privacy channels.
Children’s privacy
DocInsight is a developer tool and is not intended for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us so that we can take appropriate steps.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date.
If DevJet Software later incorporates, reorganizes, changes its operating structure, registers or transfers the DocInsight business to a legal entity, or transfers substantially all assets related to DocInsight, we may update this Privacy Policy to identify the successor operator or legal entity. Where required by applicable law, we will provide notice or obtain consent for related changes to personal information handling.
